末节区域中的ABR能够过滤掉类型5的LSA，以防止它们被发布到末节区域中。同时，ABR会产生一个类型3的LSA，以通告一条到达AS外部目的地址的默认路由。如果ABR将类型3的LSA也过滤掉，并通告一条到达区域外部目的地址的缺省路由，这种区域称为完全末节区域(Totally Stubby Area)。
